Summer vacation season is coming up at light speed. If you’re trying to have a great family vacation for the right price, why not look close to home? Massachusetts has a great selection of vacation spots that you can drive to in only a few hours or less.
Anyone that is at all familiar with the shape of our beautiful state knows about Cape Cod. It is the peninsula that gives Massachusetts its distinctive tail, and it is home to some of the most popular vacation spots in the state.
There are plenty of vacation spots from which you may choose, including the insanely popular Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. You may also choose to take your family to Hyannis, Brewster, or even make the trek all the way to the tip of Cape Cod - Provincetown.
Once you make it to the Cape, there are a million different things to do. If you want to spend your time outside, there are plenty of beaches from which you can choose. You can also take bike rides along many of the coastlines. For others, the museums and excellent restaurants will be the draw.
The Berkshires in western Massachusetts are a great vacation spot for families of all types. There are lots of vacation villages and resorts in that area where you can stay, and plenty of activities where you and your party can enjoy the majesty of the area. There are also lots of local events and activities, including art and culture events, festivals, shopping, and much more!
It may not immediately come to mind when you are trying to make a list of places to go in the summer, but Sturbridge (in Central Mass) is a great place to go, especially for families. It is home to several great museums, including the living history museum called Old Sturbridge Village.
If you don’t want to spend a lot of time in the car, you’re in luck! One of the best vacation destinations is right in our backyard. Pack the family up for a day trip, and hit up a favorite Boston destination, like the Freedom Trail, the USS Constitution, or peruse the Back Bay.
And remember your other summer destination for this summer of 2014 – the Gammons Insurance office itself! Drop by during our regular business hours to speak with an insurance expert about your auto insurance policy before you leave on a long road trip
