Insurance "Must-Haves"

this is a loaded question – the answer is slightly different for every person. For the most part, though, there are three types of insurance policies that most people ‘must have:’

Health Insurance
Your body is your most valuable asset. You only get one, so it’s vitally important that you do everything in your power to protect it. One of the best ways to do this is with a health insurance policy that will ensure you get the proper treatment if you fall ill. If you want to take this coverage one step further, you can add a disability insurance policy to your folio. This will make sure that you have financial stability if you are injured.

Home Insurance or Renter’s Insurance
The place that you live needs to be protected, no matter if it’s a studio apartment or a sprawling suburban home. The right insurance policy will make sure that everything you store in your home, including your electronics, furniture, clothing, and much more, is protected in case of a disaster. It’s important to note, though, that you may need a little extra coverage for things like art, jewelry, or valuable collections. Just mention these to your insurance agent, and they’ll set you up with additional protection.

Auto Insurance
It’s estimated that every US household has two vehicles. If your family has a vehicle, it’s required under Massachusetts laws that you have a certain minimum amount of auto insurance coverage. Your policy must include coverage for your automobile, property damage, and injury to yourself and others. If you own any other vehicles (such as a motorcycle, RV, or boat) those also need to have insurance coverage.

In addition to these three critical policies, there are two more types of insurance that everyone should consider. In some cases, they may not be necessary, but they are worthy of consideration for every household:

Life Insurance
Not every situation necessitates a life insurance policy, but in some cases it can be very beneficial. This is especially true for people with children and other family members that depend on a steady income. Umbrella Insurance
If you need a little bit of extra coverage on top of your insurance, look no further. An umbrella insurance policy is a great way to extend the limits of your existing insurance policies for a reasonable price, and it will be there to protect you in a ‘worst case scenario.’
